Texas Children’s Hospital Houston, Texas – Level 1 Course. Beth Janssen
Level 1 of the Barcelona Scoliosis Physical Therapy School Concept by Rigo heads West!
I had the pleasure of teaching the first Level 1 west of the Mississippi River, in the USA, at Texas Children’s Hospital from April 13-18, 2021. We had 10 enthusiastic Physical Therapists. It has been a long year since COVID hit, but we followed strict COVID precautions. It was great to be with so many enthusiastic PT’s, all dedicated to improving the health of the people with scoliosis in their community. In this group of PT’s we had mostly pediatric therapists, most with years of experience treating complicated patients.
The focus of Level 1 is the Non-Surgical Treatment of Scoliosis, using the Barcelona Scoliosis Physical Therapy School-Concept by Rigo. This Method is based on the Schroth Method.
I am confident that the dedicated Physical Therapists who attended the course vastly increased their knowledge on scoliosis treatment, including scoliosis diagnosis, PT Scoliosis Specific Exercise, Scoliosis treatment options and scoliosis bracing. Although the BSPTS is not against surgery for Scoliosis, we follow SOSORT guidelines and focus our attention on Scoliosis treatment without surgery.
Congratulations to Texas Childrens Hospital for their commitment to high quality education for their staff and their dedication to the people of Houston. Texas Childrens Hospital has been hosting courses by the BSPTS for over 5 years, and has a large number of PT’s actively offering this service to people in their regions.
Congratulations to Texas Childrens Hospital!
