RIGO CONCEPT BSPTS - Romania region

The Romania Rigo Concept – BSPTS region represents the growth and establishment of the Rigo Concept (Barcelona Scoliosis Physical Therapy School – BSPTS) scoliosis education and clinical practice throughout Romania. This work is led by Andreea G. Vîrban, PT, who serves as the primary Rigo Concept teacher and key regional coordinator in Romania.

Andreea has extensive training in scoliosis-specific physiotherapy, including certifications in Rigo Concept PSSE and multiple advanced courses in 3-dimensional scoliosis treatment principles derived from the original Schroth method. Her academic background includes a license in Physical Therapy and Special Motricity and a Master’s in Physiotherapy and Neuromotor Recovery.

Since initiating activities in Romania, Andreea has organized and taught multiple Rigo Concept BSPTS courses, helping local therapists develop competency in conservative scoliosis care. Highlights of the program thus far include:

A group of 7 therapists successfully completed the six-day course with practical demonstrations and case discussions.

Level 1 Course – Bucharest

A comprehensive Level 1 training held at a scoliosis-focused clinic in București, where 5 participants practiced specific corrective techniques and explored therapeutic touch formats under Andreea’s instruction.

Level 1 in Constanta

The first BSPTS Rigo Concept course delivered in a public hospital setting in Constanța, broadening access to advanced conservative scoliosis education for practicing clinicians within the national healthcare system.

Level 2 Advanced Training – Bucharest

An intensive Level 2 course co-taught with international instructor Nuria Puigdevall, expanding knowledge and skills related to advanced correction strategies and patient-specific exercise application.

Upcoming Level 1 Courses – 2026

  • 16-21 March 2026
  • 16-21 June 2026 | These intensive 6-day courses will provide participants with foundational theoretical knowledge and practical clinical skills required to begin implementing Rigo Concept principles in their daily practice.

Mission and Vision

The goal of Rigo Concept BSPTS Romania is to improve the availability and quality of evidence-based conservative scoliosis care across the country by training physical therapists and multidisciplinary professionals to assess and treat spinal deformities in accordance with international standards.

Through these educational activities and growing community engagement, the Romania region aims to:

Enable clinicians to understand the 3-dimensional nature of scoliosis and related spinal disorders.

Promote critical and constructive reasoning in clinical decision-making.

Facilitate hands-on skill development in Rigo Concept corrective strategies.

Support the implementation of conservative scoliosis treatment programs in Romanian clinics, both private and institutional.

Educational opportunities continue to expand, with future courses and clinical collaborations planned in various regions of Romania. These courses are intended for physical therapists and other health professionals seeking specialization in conservative spinal deformity management using the Rigo Concept approach.
