Level 1 in Bulgaria. Teacher: Borislav Chongov

Due to the epidemiological situation in Bulgaria caused by COVID-19, the first course Level 1 of Barcelona Scoliosis Physical Therapy School was held from 2 to 7 January 2021.

All instructions and rules for preventing the spread of COVID-19 according to the legislation of Bulgaria were observed. It took place in Sofia at Spine Recovery and Educational Center “Sport and Health”. The course was supported by the Bulgarian Association of Physical Therapists and the Bulgarian Orthopaedic and Trauma Association.

The course was presented in the Bulgarian language by Borislav Chongov. The course was attended by certified physiotherapists from several cities in Bulgaria – Sofia, Velingrad, Burgas and Varna. The “Waterway” Foundation also had special participation.

The course was mainly practical, as the participants were trained in the application of exercises for scoliosis and other spinal deformities based on the Schroth method, Rigo concept and Jean Dubousset concept of harmonical correction on the spine.

Scoliosis patients with typical 3C and 4C clinical types according to the Rigo classification were demonstrated. Physiotherapists practised various techniques to correct spinal deformities and exercise for scoliosis.

All successfully passed their exam and began their preparation for the development of two clinical cases with which to apply for the next Level 2 of their education.
