C1 Course, Bulgaria: Teachers: Dr. Manuel Rigo and Borislav Chongov
From 7 to 16 November in Sofia, Bulgaria has held a course of physiotherapy for scoliosis from the Rigo concept was held for the first time. The course is based on the Schroth method and the concept of Jean Dubousset.
The course was presented by dr. Manuel Rigo, founder of Barcelona Scoliosis Physical Therapy School. It was critical to visit Bulgaria and to see how we work and organise courses. On the course, participate person who works for non-operative treatment for scoliosis – dr. Eli Ivanova. She is a medical doctor for paediatric orthopaedic and trauma and also is work as an orthotic technician. She makes braces for scoliosis patients models of Rigo-Cheneau.
Like observer participate, another past president of SOSORT, and director of ISICO and founder of SEAS (scientific exercises approach of scoliosis) – Michele Romano. It had a very interesting and meaningful discussion about Rigo concept.
One of the discussion questions was, “What is expansion experience?”. It was like creating a bridge between physiotherapeutic scoliosis specific exercises (PSSE) technics. The main teacher of the course was Borislav Chongov. The course was conducted simultaneously in two languages – Bulgarian and English.
Participants learned what spinal deformities are; what is scoliosis; how to scoliosis treated; the classification of scoliotic clinical types of Rigo.
The course marked the beginning of the spread of the Rigo concept, not only in the largest city and capital of Bulgaria, Sofia but from Varna and Targovishte.
