Bulgaria has a rich history in the treatment and prevention of spinal disorders. The creation of a physiotherapy specialty at the National Sports Academy (NSA) in 1947 consistently applied screening programs and exercises in school and specialized camps.

  In 2014, on the recommendation of Prof. Evgeniya Dimitrova from the NSA and with the support of orthopedics doctors from a Specialized Orthopedics Hospital “Prof. Boycho Boichev” are introduced PSSE (physiotherapy scoliosis-specific exercises). Borislav Chongov successfully solved BSPTS C1 in Barcelona trained by Manuel Rigo and C2 in 2015 in Zvole, Netherlands trained by Manuel Rigo and Beth Jansen.

  BSPTS concept by Rigo in Bulgaria is used as a treatment for a patient, as well as in the professional and scientific fields. The principles of correction are demonstrated during lectures and practical exercises in front of students from the National Sports Academy, Sofia; Medical University, Sofia and Medical College, Burgas.

  Teams that Borislav Chongov presented scientific reports at regional and international forums including 2017 SOSORT meetings in Lyon (France) and 2019 in San Francisco (USA).

  BSPTS concept by Rigo is combined in Bulgaria with surgical method ApiFix, which was introduced in 2017 with the help of Nikos Karavidas (BSPTS Instructor Greece).

  In addition at the Specialized Hospital for Orthopedics “Prof. Boycho Boichev “BSPTS is being implemented and developed at the Center for Spinal Recovery and Education “Sport and Health”, founded in 2009 by Borislav Chongov. They are being held individual and group activities and camps under the name “Scoliosis Summer School”. The company organizes the school’s screening for scoliosis. Since 2018 training in physiotherapy in the SEAS method at the Italian Institute ISICO.

  The Sport and Health Company works as a team in multidisciplinary scoliosis treatment with leading orthopedic doctors and orthopedic technicians in Bulgaria. Participates in the publication of scoliosis books such as:

Since 2019 in Bulgaria start the education of BSPTS concept by Rigo, which is included in the educational program of BAPT (Bulgarian Association for Physical Therapists) and BOTA (Bulgarian Orthopedic and Trauma Association).
